Christian Hagemann lives and works in Berlin as a freelance artist and photographer.
He started his artistic career in 1998 when he undertook a degree in Communication Design and Photography at the Folkwang University in Germany. He then went on to complete an MA in Fine Art Photography at the Royal College of Art in London in 2007.
Hagemann’s work has been displayed in a number of galleries across Europe, stretching not only from Germany to London but also as far as Lithuania and Scandinavia.
Between 2005 and 2006, Hagemann was awarded the DAAD-Grant of the German Academic Exchange Service for Graduates living in Great Britain. 2007 saw a successful year winning the Kunststiftung NRW scholarship from the Foundation of Art of Northrhine-Westphalia in German, as well as being selected for the Peek 2007 Festival of Emerging Photographers by Art and Commerce in New York. The same year he also became Artist in Residence at CCC in Klaipeda, Lithuania. In 2009, Hagemann won the Flash Forward Award for Emerging Photographers in the UK from the Magenta Foundation.
In 2005 Hagemann’s work was published in Camera Austria. His images can also be seen in the 2007 Spring issues of Source Magazine and Capricious Magazine. His work also featured in Flash Forward’s 2009 Winners Publication from the Magenta Foundation and this year his images have also been included in the Spring issue of Atlas Magazin.
