Florian Beckers is a German Photographer who graduated with a distinction from the University of Essen in 1999. Alongside studying, Florian went to the Rheinisches Bildarchiv in Köln to enhance his photographic skill. Thereafter, he assisted photographer Wim Coxin as well as other photographers around Germany.
Florian’s work has received wide recognition, having exhibited in numerous shows around the world. In 1997 and again in 2003, Beckers’ work was well received at the Museum of the City in Düsseldorf, Germany. After a number of successful German shows, Florian branched out and started exhibiting work in other parts of mainland Europe including Spain, Slovakia and the Netherlands. He has also exhibited at the OMC Gallery in Los Angeles.
With a good number of exhibitions under his belt, Florian was in the line up for a number of awards ranging from the Final Fringe Prize at Voies Off, Recontres d’Arles in France as well as Final Descubrimientos Photo Espana Madrid, both in 2005. He has won various scholarships and awards within Germany and since 2001, has also been awarded a permanent residence in Barcelona under the Northrhine-Westfalia scholarship.
